Another memorial bicycle ride

Jose Hernando died last month while bicycling along Lake Washington Blvd., a popular bicycle route and what was originally built as a car-free road.  He was hit when a van headed toward him and suddenly turned left, crossing his path and forcing him to crash into the side of the van.

His crash was reported in the news, but when he passed away a few days later the only notice we found was a comment in a bicycle forum and a blog post by someone who knew him.

This Sunday, August 16th, the community is invited to join a memorial ride to remembe Jose.

They join the family and friends of Kevin Black, and the yearly Ride of Silence which has a Seattle group in hosting memorial rides this year.

Ride safely.  This year has already seen far too many fatalities and many reports of right hooks and left crosses causing cyclist crashes.  With 4 fatalities so far this year, we have to reach back through the previous 3 years to see so many deaths.
